The Vanford 4000 MHG FA is a faster reel with a shallower spool than the standard 4000 model. It is described as suitable for float fishing and aggressive twitching. The reel has X-Protect water protection, a carbon-fibre-based drag and a carbon-fibre-reinforced composite body. Its rotor is stated to be 25% lighter with 22% lower inertia. The reel has 7+1 bearings and a worm-shaft line-lay system. The spool lip design is intended to reduce line tangling and support longer casts.
